Small Business Phone Service - time to cut costsSwitching to a small business phone service is a quick and easy way of cutting costs. It is an easy decision as immediate cost savings are readily identifiable and there are few if any up front costs. A new generation of service providers now compete with the phone companies and their plain vanilla offerings. Until recently the phone companies could get away with basic "one size fits all" deals as there were no alternatives for small business customers, but that has now changed.
A generation ago some of the phone companies attempted to provide a service called centrex, but it was handicapped by the technology available at the time, which was pre-IP telephony. Centrex failed to take off and small business customers were neglected until the recent emergence of companies such as Nextiva
The new generation of service providers offer comprehensive services to small business for a low monthly charge and access to call rates that phone companies cannot compete with. Typically they use the latest IP technology to deliver these services, while the phone companies are still depreciating investments in superseded TDM switches. It is essential to compare phone services before signing up, but at the same time the risks are small. There is intense competition between the companies to provide a comprehensive, but cheap business phone service. The options mentioned above will almost certainly result in significant cost reductions for most small business operators and most don't even require a contract. Related Articles |
