DECT 6.0 operates at 1.9 GHz. Unlike the more commonly used 900 MHz and 2.4GHz frequencies, it is free of interference from devices including: WiFi, baby monitors, microwave ovens and bluetooth. The low frequency also accounts for its impressive range. These issues are critical to a cordless phone comparison, irrespective of whether conventional or Skype phones are being assessed.
The Netgear SPH 200D does not compete with the Skype wireless phone or the Belkin WiFi phone. It's not intended for use by road warriors at hotels, airports and hotspots. It competes directly with the Uniden and Panasonic cordless telephones, with the advantage that it is also a Skype phone.
