What is DECT Technology?

The DECT standard was developed by ETSI (European Telecommunication Standardization Institute). It is a worldwide open standard enabling interoperability between different products and vendors. In the U.S. it operates over the 1.9GHz frequency which is exclusively for the use of cordless phones. In other countries it uses the 1.8GHz band.

Why DECT Phones?

DECT phones have become the defacto standard for cordless phones. They have displaced 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz alternatives because they have better range and are not subject to interference from other wireless devices. They are also reliable, secure and cheap. DECT is also a global standard so there is little if any difference in its implementation between brands.
