Free Telemarketing List

Wouldn't it be great if we could log onto the Internet and down load a free telemarketing list. We could then use it with some free telemarketing scripts to drive a free phone dialer and make a fortune. Sadly it is not an original idea. There are thousands of searches on Google every month for: free lists, telemarketing scripts and phone dialers.

There is another catch. The quality of a telemarketing list including how well it targets a market, is a key factor in determining whether or not a campaign is successful. That is whether it makes money or loses money.

The effectiveness of a telemarketing campaign can be greatly increased if a targeted telemarketing list is used. Targeting is achieved by defining the purpose of a campaign and identifying the key characteristics of the people who should be on the list. For example:

Geographic location (postal code)
Gender
Age range
Marital status
Income range
Home owner or renting

Telemarketing lists also need to be maintained. This means that they need to be cleansed to remove inaccuracies and duplicate records. They also need to be checked against Do Not Call Registries or risk exposure to penalties for non-compliance with telemarketing laws. The bottom line, a decent telemarketing list is a valuable asset, but an asset that will rapidly deteriorate in value if it is not maintained.

It is very unlikely that a search for a free list will be worth the effort. In the event of finding one it is advisable to be skeptical and to recall acronym GIGO (garbage in, garbage out).
