Blackberry Storm - is it the best smart phone?
It's a great phone, but it's going to have an up hill battle against the iPhone 3G, which has had an enormous head start. There is also little overlap between iPhone and Blackberry users. It's going to take more than a touch screen to switch an emotionally entangled iPhone user.
Putting sentiment and brand loyalty aside the Storm has only got one notable deficiency when stacked up against the iPhone 3G. It doesn't have WiFi. What an amazing omission. Blackberry WiFi is not something that RIM can't do, they've done it before. Surely a Smartphone with WiFi is as natural as strawberries and cream or blackberry and apple pie.
Bottom line, we couldn't spot a single feature that would cause a wavering iPhone groupie to jump ship and buy a Storm. The Storm is selling by the truckload and will help RIM keep its loyal customers, but it's not a threat to Apple.
